Does anyone else think final fantasy 8 was terrible?

I got incredibly far in the game and i havent actually fought using my characters yet, all you need to do is spam gf's. The game has no strategy just spam the **** outa things and you'll win because i have several gf's and i can even equip multiple to one character so if one dies (which hasn't happened yet) ill send out another an im good to go. which is retarded it makes the game waaaay to easy since all you have to do is spam and you think the makers would have made the ability to skip gf cutscenes when summoning them. but no they are retarded
